SimPE & the UC


When the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (the UC) came out it revitalized the Sims 2 community! For those of us who could no longer play the game, due to faulty discs and lack of technical support, it was the perfect 'gift' from EAGames to receive the UC for free.

However, it didn't take long to realize that there were some hiccups involved, in the way that the UC installed on our computers, and it especially hit close to home in regards to SimPE.

So...if you're having issues with the Ultimate Collection and SimPE, you are in the right place!


1. Download the CORRECT version of SimPE.

Sounds like a no-brainer, but there have been many, many versions of the program. Since the Ultimate Collection contains Mansions & Gardens, you MUST have the QA version. (Note: The site no longer exists, so I am uploading the needed file to the Utilities Page)

*Note - When you download it, simply unzip and plop the folder into your Documents folder, or another folder of your choice. You do not need the Mansions & Garden's patch.


2. Make sure to change the path files in SimPE itself.


This one was immensely frustrating for me! If you don't don't do this step then SimPE will only load the base game items. After months of frustration I finally found a tutorial by SrslySims on Sims Community that fixed my problem!

Because you've already installed SimPE, skip the first 2 steps in the tutorial.

Follow the steps and then enjoy creating to your hearts content.

*Note - My computer has the Origin Games folder in the Program Files (x86) folder, so my paths all start with C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\  .... if your UC is also in the x86 folder, you will need to change the links given in the tutorial to reflect that.

3. Can't find the DDS Utilities or having trouble installing the Photostudio Templates?

Hop over to the Utilities page for the files and instructions.
